My June Adventures in London

Now my June adventures are pretty slim on the ground, sorry guys! As you may have read from a previous post I've started a personal training course and it's pretty much taken up every waking minute of my free time. Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely loving it but it's left little room for exploring. I have managed to squeeze a couple of things in though.

At the beginning of the month I headed a little further afield to Surrey to visit some uni friends. They usually come to me but this time it was my turn to venture out. We caught up over a cuppa at Becky's new flat before heading out for lunch. (I know what you're thinking.... more food!) We had a table booked at a lovely country pub called The Brickmakers. The menu was pretty hard to pick from with so many options, but I finally went for one of the specials, salmon with crushed new potatoes and tender stem broccoli. As we were waiting for our mains I was already eyeing up dessert, this choice was going to be even harder! My main was pretty filling so I opted for the citrus cheesecake, just scrummy!

My second and last adventure of the month also involved more food. I think I may have to start calling these blog posts 'Charles' FoodAdventures'! Me and the boy headed in to Covent Garden on a Sunday afternoon in search of a few drinks and some food. We started at the famous Punch and Judy for a drink but only stayed for one. Apparently, if you sit upstairs you have to drink out of plastic cups and Alex was not about to have another premium beer out of plastic! Instead we found ourselves in Dirty Martini and it was happy hour, bonus! Alex stuck to the beer but I went for a Blackberry and Thai Basil Martini, I may have had a second one as it was so good!

We hadn't booked anywhere for dinner so took a stroll to see what we could find. We stumbled across J.Sheekey, a fish restaurant. I've had my eye on this place for a while so thought we'd give it a go. We were seated in the Atlantic bar and ordered from the bar menu. I opted for the Fish Pie and Alex went for the Tiger Prawns, both were yummy. However, the highlight for us was dessert. I had yet another cheesecake (my sweet tooth always gets the better of me) and it was probably the best I've ever had, no joke. Alex had a cheese board and was also not disappointed, instead of your usual grapes, it came with a side of honey. It was divine and went with the cheese perfectly, who knew!

We both enjoyed the meal but my top tip if you visit is ask to be seated in the main restaurant. The menu choice is much bigger and adds to the experience especially as it's not a cheap one!

July is going to be thin on the ground too with adventures as the first part of my course doesn't finish until the end of the month but I'll try my best to get a few new things in so stay tuned!
