Charles in Norfolk

If you read my previous blog or follow me in Instagram, you'll know I've recently had a week off work which was very much needed! I didn't jet off to sunnier lands but I was lucky enough to have some gorgeous British sunshine. I spent my week back home in Norfolk; nothing beats home sweet home right?

I headed off to Norwich for the first couple of nights - it's actually a really easy journey straight from Liverpool Street. On arrival I checked into The Castle with the boyfriend ready for the football game of the year (well for us anyway). Alex is the chairman for CSKA, a Sunday league team and they'd made it to the cup final at Carrow Road! Such an achievement for every one one of them. I spent my evening in the stands getting very rowdy and loud with the rest of the crew, just what you'd expect from a football match. I have never really been a football gal but I think I can officially call myself a wag now! It wasn't the win they were hoping for but regardless we hit the town after and partied until the early hours!

I woke up with a slightly sore head but had the luxury of making breakfast in the room. The Castle is a B&B in the centre of town, perfect location close to the train station and the shopping. We had our own private little bungalow opposite the bar and, as they don't have a restaurant for breakfast, they provide you with a mini continental in your room - juice, cereal, bread with spreads and freshly baked croissants. Just what we needed without having to leave the room and make ourselves presentable!

Our second destination was still in Norwich, at Dunston Hall, around a 20 minutes drive from the city centre. I'd booked us for a night of luxury and pampering and was not disappointed. We arrived before check in so took the opportunity to have a drink in the sun and go for a walk. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the hotel provided us with a little guided walk to follow. We may have gotten a little lost but it's all part of the fun hey!

We had a spot of light lunch and then headed up to our room. Turns out the package I'd booked got us in to the Queens Suite overlooking the golf course! Spoilt is a bit of an understatement! The view was incredible and the room was huge. We even got a complimentary bottle of fizz and a box of chocolates. This place was winning already!

After settling in, we headed to the spa for our treatments and both went for 'The Fit for Business Back Ritual'. It was very relaxing and I think I may have almost nodded off! The pool area was lovely with a large pool, steam room and sauna and we spent an hour or so enjoying the facilities.

After all that swimming we were ready for some more food! The menu had some great choices but neither of us fancied the starters so we went for some flat bread and hummus, just enough to see us over until the mains arrived. Alex had steak and I had the roasted chicken with kale and gnocchi, both were yummy! Now we all know I've got a sweet tooth, so of course, I had dessert. I tucked into the biggest Eton mess you've ever seen while the boy enjoyed his cheese and biscuits.

We left the next morning feeling very rested and full after several helpings from the breakfast buffet! The rest of the week was spent with friends and family, enjoying the sun, having BBQ's and making more memories!
