My April Adventures in London

Well April has been a jam packed month full of adventures and most importantly making lots of memories! Yet again this month has been filled with so much yummy food! I love making my way around London's restaurants, there's always so much to choose from and I've not been disappointed with this month's venues.

My first food spot of the month was to Gokyuzu on Green Lanes. This restaurant is super close to where I live so was perfect for the boy and I to head to after a busy day of studying and football. We were both so hungry that I forgot to take any pictures so I can't show you what we had but we opted for a sharing hot meze of halloumi, hummus, falafel and some other Turkish treats. We then shared a meat platter which probably could have fed a family of 6! We ended up taking most of it home but made the most of the left overs the next day. We'll definately be heading back there to try the rest of the menu!

The following weekend I went for brunch at Balthazar in Covent Garden. A group of us went as a surprise good luck celebration for a friend of mine who was preparing to run the London marathon. We had a fabulous afternoon catching up and eating delicious food. I went for a lighter main course of salad nicoise as I wanted to save some room for the almond waffles, topped with berry compote, maple syrup and creme fraiche! I'm glad I did as they were soo good!

Since I've been living in London my parents try to visit whenever they can. They love exploring just as much as I do so it's always a great opportunity to tick some things off the bucket list. This time we headed to Kew Gardens and spent a leisurely Sunday afternoon enjoying the beautiful grounds. The weather was in our favour and it just so happened to be the hottest day of the year yet! I hadn't quite realised just how vast the gardens were and we managed to rack up a whopping 11km on foot! Safe to say we all slept well that night!

After a much needed lazy next morning, the three of us visited the Sky Garden, I'd been before but Mum and Dad hadn't. We had a wander around and treated ourselves to a coffee and slice of cake whilst enjoying the view. I don't think I'll ever get tired of looking out at London's skyline.

We had an early dinner booked at one of my favourite restaurants, Dishoom. I've lost count of the amount of times I've been but it was another new venue for my parents and the food is just heavenly! I love the drinks menu here as their Indian twists on some classics really makes for some interested tastes. I picked out the virgin bombay colada which was so refreshing. I imagine it would taste even better with that splash of rum! We went for a selection of dishes to share including their famous house black daal, gunpowder potatoes and the chicken tikka. Mum and Dad were very impressed and loved it as much as me!

We had a little time to spare before heading to the theatre so popped into Snog in Covent Gardens for dessert. I always find it hard to pick my toppings as everything looks so good but after much deliberating I went for strawberries and chocolate brownie pieces. Yummmy!!

My last adventure of the month brings me to another epic brunch spot. This time it was for a friend's birthday at OXBO bankside. I don't think I've ever eaten so much food, it's a good job I only had a light breakfast! I started with eggs royale and a selection of salad from the unlimited buffet. I then made my way back to the open kitchen but this time for something a little sweeter and choose a pancake which I topped with berry compote, chocolate balls and nuts. The pancake was perfectly light and fluffy which meant I had more room for everything else. After everyone had had their fill of starters we moved on to mains. A selection of sharing dishes were brought to the table including fillet of beef and spinach and ricotta tortellini. The third and final part of the meal was dessert, my favourite! I've got such a sweet tooth so I was in my element when I got to tuck in to the unlimited desserts from the Chef's table. I think my favourite must have been the lemon fool closely followed by the creme brulee.

I eventually rolled myself home after filling myself to brim with food and prosecco. This restaurant was a big hit with all of us and such good value for money, only £40 for bottomless brunch! I'd definitely go back!

Well there you have it, another month filled with food, fun and friends! Can't wait to see what May has in store for me!
